Travel & Stay

We welcome you to Camp Dakota- Shamii’s family owns a campground (better described as an adventure park) in the foothills of the Cascades.

From Portland International Airport, it is about 65 minutes to Camp Dakota up a winding, well-paved, but poorly lit backroad (be careful of deer!)

Cell reception is VERY limited past the closest town of Scott's Mills, but Google Maps will get you to the right place.

Travel to Camp Dakota

The campground is full of tent and RV sites plus teepees, yurts, and canvas cabins-tents which are available for our guests for the weekend for FREE with the caveat that the yurts and cabin-tents are very large and set up for 4-10 people so please don’t steal a whole one for just your young self and a plus 1- please book as a family or a friend group! If you are feeling exclusive, we encourage you to bring a tent or RV or snag a teepee booking.

To book please just let us know what kind of lodging you would prefer and for how long in the RSVP as you do NOT need to make an official reservation through the website- the links are for your visualization only.

Lodging Recommendations

The campground has a shower facility with warm water, but it does not have flush toilets. We hope you join us in relaxing in the woods but we also know that “roughing it” is not for everyone. There are a couple of hotels, bed and breakfasts, and quite a few Airbnbs in the nearest town of Silverton which is about a 30 min drive down Crooked Finger Road.

Silverton Inn & Suites

310 N Water St, Silverton, OR 97381

Oregon Garden Resort

895 W Main St, Silverton, OR 97381

There are also many hotel options in Salem, OR which is about 45 minutes away from Camp Dakota
